Oracle Billing and Revenue Management
The ENABIL Approach
ENABIL has invested heavily in both our human resources as well as the product itself such that the Oracle BRM (Billing and Revenue Management) application can be introduced into a new carrier environment quickly and easily. We continue to invest in the growth and evolution of the BRM Platform, and work in conjunction with Oracle to ensure alignment in our collective investments in the platform. ENABIL was the first company globally to deploy Oracle BRM (at that time Portal Software) in order to meet the end to end needs of a convergent wireless carrier. To date, ENABIL has implemented BRM with more than 20 integrated modules, supporting the unique nuances of Communication Service Providers.
Each new customer will be provided with a unique release incorporating standard modules as well as custom capabilities specific to their unique nature of their business. ENABIL deploys the core “Out-of-the-box” (OOB) BRM functionality along with ENABIL’s certified “common code framework” in order to provide a robust carrier grade solution quicker than any other System Integrator. Adherence to an OOB deployment is critical for three reasons:
- Reduces the time to implement the initial solution therefore speeding the time to market and improving overall TCO
- Affords ENABIL the ability to leverage operational synergies across our Managed Application Services customer base therefore reducing the cost to operate the solution on a daily basis and improving overall TCO
- Protects the investment our customer’s make by ensuring that future upgrades can be accomplished easily and in a cost effective manner therefore improving overall TCO
Incremental functionality and unique integrations are added to the customer deployment making the deployed solution specific to each customer. ENABIL will internally certify the common code with BRM. All of our customization is performed in accordance with best business practice and affords easy upgrade.
All ENABIL implementation projects commence with a 2-3 week requirements clarification and confirmation session conducted together with the business primes from the customer to confirm assumptions and allow a joint project plan to be developed.
Requirements clarification and confirmation will occur during our initial on-site visit and will continue remotely via conference calls and email as needed. ENABIL will require that department staff and subject matter experts be available for interviews and joint requirements planning sessions and to discuss the final design. At the end of the Initiating phase, ENABIL will deliver completed Functional Requirements, Technical Requirements and Training Requirements documentation which will be presented to the customer for approval and sign-off.
The on-site sessions will focus on identifying the technical and functional requirements and completing a gap analysis. In order to identify the requirements, ENABIL will use various methods including:
Onsite meetings with stakeholders:
- Conducting Joint Requirements Planning (JRP) sessions with stakeholders and subject matter experts
- Meetings with technical staff to understand current infrastructure processes
Technical, functional, and training requirements documents will be produced which will outline the technical solution to be developed and configured. Once the requirements are determined and agreed to by both sides, a gap analysis will be done to define the necessary configuration changes and new development work which may be required to integrate with existing network interfaces.
To clarify points and confirm design elements, we will use documents such as:
- Wire frames (screen mock-ups)
- Process maps
- Traceability Matrix
- User Acceptance Tests
Client design walk through will be conducted to ensure that the solution meets with the approved requirements and client approval is required prior to commencement of configuration and development work.
ENABIL’s subject matter experts would be selected based upon area of expertise such as customer care, collections, rating, billing, and record receipt. Our organization is structured to quickly draw from our internal pools of experts as we see fit during the project.
ENABIL has a proven integration lifecycle aimed at ensuring both the quality and speed in which we can deploy new integrations to the highest level possible. We combine Agile-like development with the traditional waterfall method to deploy iterations through the test cycle from development/configuration very quickly and effectively. We adhere to a well practiced service request process that ensures a timely response to our customers for any change required. Changes are scheduled into releases which are jointly agreed upon by the Customer and ENABIL. Changes go through a unit tests, integration and quality assurance tests prior to being released to the Customer for user acceptance testing.
Our deployment process allows for multiple streams of work at any given time. Our employees have a wealth of expertise across the entire BSS footprint from mediation and provisioning to rating, billing, invoicing and financial analysis.
ENABIL has invested heavily to enhance Oracle’s BRM application such that it can be introduced into a new carrier environment quickly and easily. In excess of $5 million annually has been spent in each of the last 10 years on extensions to the core BRM platform and exclusive ENBAIL IP that enhances the overall functional footprint and better aligns the solution to the requirements of today’s communications service providers. We continue to invest in the growth and evolution of the BRM Platform, and work in conjunction with Oracle to ensure alignment in our collective investments in the platform.
The Oracle BRM solution was developed using a scalable, flexible, highly available architecture that delivers open API’s and integration with industry-leading applications. BRM enables integration to third-party applications through the use of: EAI Manager, Web Services Manager, and the Oracle BRM API’s. As a result the deployed solution has the ability to easily mediate, rate and treat usage from multiple lines of business within a single solution. Rolling out additional lines of business and applying convergent logic such as bundling is made simple and repeatable thereby affording our customers demonstrable competitive advantage.
