Job Description
As the Manager, IT Infrastructure and Operations you will provide IT
Infrastructure leadership and management to ENABIL and its
customers. You will also provide, operate and maintain computing and
communications facilities, equipment and services to ENABIL and its
customers, while ensuring maximum service availability. In this
position you will also be responsible for all aspects of data centre
and network operation, capacity planning and vendor management,
including the supervision and professional review of department
employees.
As the successful candidate, you will also be responsible for developing
recommendations for technical architecture as well as the development of
guidelines, standards and procedures based on industry accepted best practices.
You bring to the role a wealth of experience in multiple disciplines directly
related to IT and the management of technology including experience in project
management, infrastructure design, development and delivery.
Key responsibilities

Responsible for the overall maintenance of enterprise wide
effectiveness of data centre and networks ensuring high levels
of customer satisfaction
-
Oversee and coordinate the daily activities of the data centre
and network operations
-
Analyze technology, industry and market trends and determine
potential impact upon the enterprise and operations. Make
recommendations to the senior leadership team in the adoption of
these trends with emphasis on improving the effectiveness and
efficiency of IT in delivering value to the business

Leads the enterprise architecture implementation and ongoing
refinement activities as it relates to data centre and network
operations
-
Leads the development of infrastructure strategy and
architecture for the enterprise
-
Leads the IT strategy planning activities, bringing a current
knowledge and future vision of infrastructure technology and
best practices, and lead the migration to new technologies
appropriate
-
Interact with Application leaders in the development of IT
solutions for business needs
-
Capacity planning: evaluate processing performance relating to
infrastructure utilization and reliability and forecasts
financial, physical and human resource needs to meet demands
-
Lead service resumption activities:
oversee and coordinate network / data operations,
business continuance and restoration plans that isolate problems
and implement pre-planned alternate routes or systems to restore
service

Develop business and technology standards and best practices
based on industry standards such as ITIL, COBIT and PCI
-
Ensure data backup/recovery, maintenance, data integrity and
space requirements are met across a variety of platforms to meet
business objectives
-
Serves as an expert resource to IT groups in planning the
resource requirements for systems under development
-
Presents statistical availability and trend analysis in support
of recommendations to Senior IT leadership and the business as
needed
-
Responsible for the management of third party service providers
in delivering computing and network services. This includes
negotiation and management of committed service levels of these
suppliers in delivering services

Controls the budget and expenditures of the department, company
and projects
-

Experience and Educational requirements
-
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the operation of a
data centre facility
-
A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, business
administration, commerce or engineering is required
-
Telecommunications experience would be an asset
-
Leadership experience in managing multiple, cross-functional
teams would be an asset
-
Experience in influencing senior level leaders and key
stakeholders would an asset
-
Experience with Oracle database software would be an asset
The Successful candidate must possess at least 7 of the
following capabilities:
- Ability to Source,
Design, Implement, Administer and Troubleshoot:
- Server Hardware

Storage Hardware
- Network
- Ability to perform
Systems Administration on the following:
- Network administration using
Cisco ASA (Firewall) and Cisco IOS (routers and
switches)
- UNIX and/or Linux
system administration
- Windows
Server Administration

Virtualization technologies such as; VMWare,
Solaris containers and LDOMs, Xen and Virtualbox/OracleVM
- Ability to Architect and
Solution:

Infrastructure Design. Specifically Integrating
Hardware, Network and Storage into a single
presentable solution. This would also include
RFP participation and customer presentations

Application debugging and/or application
architecture
- Skilled in Auditing,
Security and Reporting

Performance and Availability Reporting/Alerting,
Capacity Planning, Statistical Analysis of
Resource Utilization

Security; patch management, intrusion detection,
network vulnerability assessments, managing
access controls and incident response
-
Backups, Business Continuity Planning and DRP
-
Auditing; Inventory management, resource
Utilization, success/failure of automated
procedures and compliance with corporate
standards
